1. Advantages of science

(a) Some things of daily life

                            science to-day has given us such comforts as were unimaginable a few years ago. Today we switch on the radio and listen to the music. We have electricity, telephone, television, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioning plants and what not? All of these things have made up the life of  a man very comfortable. The flush lavatories , shower-baths, electric fans, cinemas, cars, trams and ''planes'' are among other scientific inventions and discoveries which have increased happiness of a man.                                                            

                                                   

            

(b) Easy travelling

                            Science has made travelling easy and efficient. The world has become smaller for us. But those exciting and adventures and romances which travelling  gave in the past have all disappeared. Modern travelling is a dull business.                

                                                

2. Disadvantages of science

(a) Mechanical life

The men who live in big cities are benefited in some respects while harmed in many other ways. The city people do not have any leisure. Their life is so busy and mechanical that do not have any time ''to and stare''.  Their lives have become artificial, devoid of charm and delight.

               

                                              

      

                

(b)Lose of spiritualism.

As modern age is an age of science, so men have become scientific minded. But as science is advancing. It is thwarting out civilization. In the kingdom of science, the worlds like love affection and sentiments are quite foreign. So, what is the use of science to men if he gains the whole world but loses his soul? Spiritualism is on the wane while materialism is on the increase. Philosophy, culture and poetry are fading from the earthly life because of the rapid advancement of science.

    

                                                

(c) Destructive weapons and bombs

Again, on the destructive side, science has invented weapons which are most dreadful and disastrous. The inventions of laser beams, cobalt bomb and megaton bombs have increased the chances of human destruction. Thus if these weapons are used. They would spell disaster for the entire mankind.

                                                      

3. Conclusion

Thus, the opinion remains divided on the subject. No one claims that science is complete happiness or a complete curse. While a scientist make inventions, a politician misuses them. Mainly, it is the wrong application of scientific invention by the politician that sounds the alarm. In this respect science  has de-humanised us. No-a-days, we have better drugs and surgical instruments, but men are becoming weak constitutionally. What an irony of fate it is! Today, we have a sensitive 'heart'. a sensitive 'lung' ans a sensitive liver due to fast speed, smoky atmosphere and dusty roads. Thus, science while it makes mankind happy by its latest achievements. also makes it unhappy when it shows its destructive power. But, broadly speaking science  can be used for getting happiness but the mind of the man and particularly of the politician misuses the discoveries of science.
